Introducing The Making of the Evil Stepmother
Welcome to The Making of the Evil Stepmother! My name is Orazie Cook and I’m a stepmother who is passionate about sharing my experiences and insights with others who are navigating the complexities of blended families.
Growing up, I had step parents, so I thought I knew what I was getting into when I became a stepmother in April 2021. But I quickly realized that being a step parent was a whole different ballgame, and the negative stereotypes and assumptions that are often associated with the role hit me like a ton of bricks.
From the classic fairy tales to modern movies and TV shows, stepmothers are often portrayed as cold, cruel, and calculating, with little regard for the well-being of their stepchildren but in reality no one enters a blended family to horrible to anyone’s children however experiences can make you become a person you never saw yourself as – the evil stepmother.
I soon discovered, the reality of step parenting is far more complex than these stereotypes would have us believe. There are no easy answers or one-size-fits-all solutions when it comes to building a positive relationship with stepchildren, navigating co-parenting with an ex-spouse, or dealing with common challenges like jealousy or resentment.
That’s why I started The Making of the Evil Stepmother: to provide a space where stepparents can come together to share their stories, connect with others who understand the unique challenges of blended families, and find support and resources to help them navigate this complex and rewarding role and honestly just to vent without judgement.
In this blog, I’ll be sharing my own experiences as a stepmother, as well as insights and advice from other stepparents and experts in the field. I hope that this blog will be a valuable resource for anyone who is embarking on their own journey as a step parent, and that together, we can help to challenge the negative stereotypes and assumptions that have long plagued this important and often misunderstood role.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to sharing more with you soon!
